FAQs

1. Must I book an appointment?
Appointment bookings are strongly encouraged. Making an appointment helps to shorten your waiting time at the centre.

2. How to book an appointment?
To make an appointment, you can call 6355 7788 or email enquiries@hfl.com.sg. Online bookings are also accepted at least 3 working days in advance at http://www.healthforlife.sg/appt.html

3. Why are there no afternoon appointments?
Screening appointments are usually booked in the morning as participants are required to fast at least 8-10 hours prior to screening.

4. How many days should I book the appointment in advance?
Appointments are to be booked and/or changed 3 days in advance.

5. How long is the duration of the screening?
Screenings can last between 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the number of tests being carried out.

6. When will the results be out?
You will be required to return to the centre for a review by our doctor 2 weeks after your health screening.

7. How often must I go for a health screening?
Individuals are encouraged to go for annual screenings. Health screening is usually conducted to detect diseases early, even when one feels healthy. Very often, chronic diseases in their early stages do not show any symptoms or signs. If you detect and treat chronic disease(s) early, you can prevent or delay the onset of serious health complications in later life.

8. Can we take medications during fasting?
You are advised to come for health screening when you are well. If you are on medication, please arrive early and inform the nurse/doctor of the medicine taken.

9. Can I use medisave for these packages/add on tests?
Medisave cannot be used for health screening packages and add-on tests.

10. What are the payment modes?
Besides Nets and cash, we do accept all major credit cards.

11. Can I customize the health screening package?
Clients can request for add-on tests. However, should a client decide not to take up one or more tests in our standard health screening packages, no refund will be made for these tests.

12. Can I opt for Ultrasound service?
Yes, ultrasound services are also available as add-on tests.

13. What are the preparations?
Your health screening appointment is normally scheduled in the morning. Please fast from 10pm the night before. You may drink some plain water in the morning of your appointment. A light breakfast will be served after the necessary tests are done. Please bring along your NRIC / Passport / Employment pass / Work permit and your past medical reports (up to 3 years ago), existing medications, vitamin supplements and spectacles (if any).

14. I am below 40 years of age. Can I go for mammogram?
Mammogram is not recommended for people below 40 years old. However, if you think that you are at risk, please consult your doctor who will be able to advise you accordingly.

15. Must I be specially attired?
As we would like you to be comfortable, please come in light and loose-fitting attire.

16. Will I need to undress during health screening?
Yes, you may be required to do so during ECG, doctors examination and X-ray. During X-ray, you will be required to change into the robe provided. Your privacy will be observed at all times.
